Howdy! My name is Makayla Hayman, and I am a freshman Public Health major from Round Rock, TX. Over Spring Break I traveled to Berlin, Germany with my Public Health honors class to research various public health topics in Germany compared to the United States in preparation for our final project. While there, I took several tours of important places like the Reichstag (their Parliament) building and a couple public health organizations. I embraced my time as a tourist, but I especially tried to live like a local and spent some time trying the local cuisine (wiener schnitzel is so good) and trying the public transportation system (I only got lost twice, oops). During my time in Berlin, I spent most of my days and nights sightseeing. I fell in love with the European architecture and the overall bustling atmosphere of Berlin. My favorite sights were the Berliner Dom, the Berlin Wall and the Brandenburg Tor. It was a jam-packed week, but I would not have wanted to spend my Spring Break in any other city. This was my first time abroad and I can honestly say I loved every minute of it (even the 11-hour plane ride and 50˚ weather). As much as I loved being abroad and having a blast over Spring Break, I was excited to get back to Aggieland to share my adventures with all my sisters!
