Hi my name is Alyse Bates and I am an engineer at Texas A&M University and am part of the class of 2022. Alpha Delta Pi has recently connected me to many opportunities to volunteer in College Station. Last semester, my friends and I took a trip to the Ronald McDonald House, our sorority’s philanthropy. It was amazing to be hands on, and we got to meet all the kids and families staying at the house. The people at RMHC are struggling with a family member in the hospital, and RMHC gives them the chance to stay close to that family member for free. On the most recent trip, we brought supplies such as feathers and markers to make puppets out of paper bags. This small gesture brightened the kids’ faces and filled the hearts of those around. Our sorority was able to get face to face with the issue and truly see what the money has been raised for. This not only gives everyone a new perspective on my life but pushes us to work hard and spread awareness for our philanthropy. I am so thankful to be a part of a sorority where the people genuinely care. Thank you ADPi for allowing me to be active in my community.
